Favre Allegations Leave Legend in Hot Water

Posted: October 12, 2010 in News

Brett Favre (left) and Jenn Sterger have brought new light to player conduct with media, especially when it comes to women (shuttervoice.com).

News this week broke about Brett Favre allegedly sending “professional” sports journalist Jenn Sterger inappropriate pictures and text messages in 2008 when Favre signed a contract with the Jets. We all know that at the ripe old age of 41 years old, there is at least a 50/50 chance individuals are incapable of turning their computers on successfully. The other half are the moms who think texting their children makes them “cool.”

The story was first reported by Deadspin.com, a sports blog that carries a more opinionated view on some of the world’s tackiest sports stories. The video produced on the article’s page played the alleged recorded vicemails Sterger received after Jets practices when Favre would call her, as well as the alleged pictures sent. Both are graphic in nature, so take caution if you feel like exploring the thread.

I find it hard to believe a guy with a following like Favre would go out of his way to further embarrass himself in the court of public opinion. The only dirty images Favre is capable of making are those he mows in his lawn on his John Deer. Whether he is guilty or innocent, why is this news being leaked years after the alleged innocent would have happened? Additionally, it’s revealed the week Favre returns to the Jets for a Monday Night Football game. Odd.

In an absolutely unbiased and professional mindset, I hope Favre is being accused of something he did not do. Go online and Google “Jenn Sterger.” Tell me that she doesn’t look like a girl who’s just dying to get her name in the news. I find it hard for anyone to consider her a credited journalist. If you think Sterger is a true professional in the media, check if Peter King has a Playboy spread too. I’ve already ordered my 2011 Peter King Maxim calendar; I’m dying for it to arrive before the new year.

We may not know for a while what the outcome of the fast-paced investigation by the NFL, but if Favre is found to be guilty he may be sitting in some hot water. If he’s suspended, his 289 consecutive game streak will be snapped. If he is suspended for the rest of the year, a 2011 season lockout may spell the true end of Favre’s career. We’re just going to have to wait and see.

Favre was jus tryin to get it in. Can’t blame him for that. Sterger is smokin’.

Ed – Love the comment man. Appreciate you checking out the blog. My stance is slightly skewed due to the publicity of the Inez Sainz allegations a month ago. She walked into a men’s locker room looking totally unprofessional and gets upset when someone looks at her. Isn’t that why you’re wearing skin tight pants – to get attention? I have to believe that this is something of a similiar situation. I think the real issue here is the Jets themselves that all this has been going on for how long now and it’s been pushed under the rug. Remember when they didn’t put Favre on an injury report and they were fined for it? The organization just seems shady to me at this point. If he’s guilty of doing this, by all means he should be punishable by NFL player conduct policies. But my view is I’m going to have to hear “guilty.” It doesn’t make sense to me to just call him out on this so far. Yes she looks like his wife 15 years younger and 2 chest sizes bigger. I need to hear him say “I did this” for me to frown upon him. Seems like she’s crying wolf.

“I find it hard to believe a guy with a following like Favre would go out of his way to further embarrass himself in the court of public opinion.”

Do you really think he expected all of this to be open to the public? He was not trying to do anything in the court of public opinion, but something strictly private with this woman. He went out of his way to try to get some YA-HA time with this woman. So are you trying to dismiss the allegations by saying no one would do something like because then they would be embarrassed in the public? That logic would state that Tiger would not fiddle with all the lovely ladies because it would embarrass him or hurt his brand.

“The only dirty images Favre is capable of making are those he mows in his lawn on his John Deer. ”

Not funny the first time, second time got a chuckle, third time was overkill. But really his penis is not the epitome of squeaky clean.

The incident was first reported on August 4th on deadspin. http://deadspin.com/5603701/brett-favre-once-sent-me-cock-shots-not-a-love-story

You can read the first story, but to recap the editor of deadspin had a conversation with ms. sterger about a year ago. In their convo the topic of brett favre came up. Ms sterger told the editor about the attempted courtship and the voice mails along with with the now infamous dong. The editor of course wanted to break this story, but ms sterger was just starting at the versus show “the Daily Line” Jenn sterger did not want the story brought out for exactly the reason you are besmirching her. No she is not going to win an award for sports journalism, but she is attempting to make it in the business. Her current job at versus is not to be the bikini clad bimbo who does not hold an opinion. I credit her for not wanting this story to come out, and if it was up to her it would not come up at all.

The deadspin editor decided to run the story without the permission of ms sterger around the time of Brett’s return to the NFL. Its a case of opportunistic journalism on the part of deadspin. They ran the story without the permission of Sterger and now shes trying to stay out of the limelight. She is not trying to profit out of this situation by any means. Even if she was an attention whore, like you are trying to make her out to be, it doesnt excuse the behavior of the good ole boy.
