Randy Moss shipped back to Minnesota

Posted: October 6, 2010 in News

Randy Moss will be rejoining the team that jump started his NFL career.

A day after Marshawn Lynch got traded cross country, Randy Moss will get his long awaited wish granted after all. Moss, 33,  is being traded back to the Vikings where he spent his first 7 NFL seasons from 1998-2004.

After the Vikings failed to acquire Vincent Jackson from San Diego earlier this season, alternative plans had to be made to find an impact go-to receiver for Brett Favre while Sidney Rice ramins on the PUP list. Moss will fill in as the number one wideout for the Minnesota offense and in a few weeks, the Vikings will feature Moss, Berrian, and Rice on the field at the same time.

Obviously this move will make significant fantasy impacts. This move certainly helps Vikings skill position players. Favre will obviously have a better chance to rebound from this poor start thus far. On the New England side, this opens things up for Brandon Tate in the Patriots game. However, this move indirectly hurts players like Tom Brady and Wes Welker, who relied heavily on the double teaming of Moss. The player who receives the largest fantasy boost is tight end Aaron Hernandez, who should be receiving a lot more attention in the passing games. Patriot running backs should also gain carries as a result of this move.

The interesting side note on this story is the fact that Minnesota has already served their bye week, while New England has not. The significance of this fact is that Moss will now play in 17 NFL games this season, versus the standard 16. Moss owners should consider the lack of production this last Monday night as his “bye week.”

Nice post man, I really enjoyed the read! Anyways, I can’t believe that the Vikings are taking on Randy Moss. This is not going to bode well for the future of the vikings or the present for that matter. Chemistry, effort and execution are all going to be problems if Moss indeed does go the vikings. Moreover, I don’t think that giving a 33 year old receiver with attitude problems is a good idea. Also, you think you could check out my blog cuz I really wanna know what you think. http://chrisross91.wordpress.com/2010/10/05/moss-to-the-vikings-say-it-aint-so/
